Speaking in Portland May 10

Saturday, May 10, at 11:30am, I’ll be speaking at the Law and Disorder Conference at Portland State University. I’ll be speaking alongside Jenny Esquivel of Sacramento Prisoner Support and scott crow (one of the founders of Common Ground Relief in New Orleans).

We’ll be talking about informers, infiltrators, and provocateurs. I will offer a taxonomy of types and characteristics, along with some ideas of how social movements can protect themselves. Jenny and scott will present two case studies from their own experiences.

The when and where:

Saturday, May 10, 11:30am-1pm

PSU Smith Building, room 238

I’ve written about this subject before in my essay, “Profiles of Provocateurs,” and in my review of The Terror Factory.

I talked to scott about his experience with FBI informant Brandon Darby a couple months ago at Toward Freedom.

And Jenny has written about the use of informants in, “Building Conspiracy,” her chapter of Life During Wartime.
